My mission as a private instructor is to provide a learning platform which fosters student knowledge of proper piano technique, music theory, aural training, and sight playing, all while addressing individual student musical interests and learning styles through creative and engaging teaching techniques.

It is my philosophy that it is the teachers' primary role is to provide scaffolding in order to assist learners to construct their own understanding of the musical concepts being learned at the piano through a variety of teaching strategies.  Further, utilizing various teaching techniques provides students with multiple learning opportunities that enhance the learning process.  Thus, in order to provide a well-rounded, comprehensive learning environment, I provide my students with learning opportunities in the following ways:

• Through the use of percussion instruments and other manipulative materials to enhance the understanding of concepts being learned.

• By providing the opportunity for group lessons and ensembles which enhance student collaboration.

• Through the use of method books adhered to individual student needs.

• Providing students with high quality music that is also fun and engaging for the student.

• Through improvisation, aural skills training, and composition.

• Providing performance opportunities through various competitions and festivals as well as semi-annual studio recitals.
